East Stroudsburg University is hiring a Maintenance Repairman 2 (Plumbing)! Located in the beautiful Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania, ESU’s proximity to New York City and Philadelphia provides convenient access to internships, careers and social activities. Just minutes from campus are the country’s largest water parks, scenic Delaware Water Gap Recreation Area, Appalachian Trail, and other opportunities for recreational fun.

As the Maintenance Repairman 2, you will need to think creatively and be comfortable maintaining various pieces of equipment around campus. You will be an active member of the Facilities Management team and will work closely with the Plumbing Maintenance Supervisor to make routine repairs, adjustments, service, cleaning and inspection of mechanical devices, plumbing and electrical devices, walls, doors, windows, and other campus facilities.  To be successful in this role, you must be detail-oriented, adaptable, and able to solve problems.

Your normal hours will be Monday to Friday 7:30 am to 3:30 pm but you may have to flex your schedule from time to time based on the needs of the business to be a true Maintenance Repairman.  When our team shows up for work, they are energized and motivated to succeed - all while being the most crucial piece to keeping the ESU operations humming.

What Will I Do At ESU? (AKA Essential Duties)

  • Serve as a semi-skilled sub-journeyman in the maintenance of campus building and equipment. 
  • Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on various types of kitchen equipment.
  •  Oil, lubricate, adjusts and performs preventative maintenance on electric motors, pumps, fans, cabinet heaters, air handlers, compressors, valves and other mechanical devices.
  • Change belts, filters and other routine repairs as instructed and assigned.
  • Repair and replace light switches, receptacles, and light fixtures.  Change light bulbs and clean light diffusers on both interior and exterior fixtures.
  •  Repair or replace leaking faucets and toilets; clear and unclog sink, toilet, and shower drains.
  • Clean mechanical devices, discharge and return air grills, covers and housings of equipment.
  • Maintain records of all work performed and maintain a small inventory of needed parts and supplies.
  • Perform inspection and adjustments as instructed and maintain and or record information of a preventative maintenance nature.
  • Exercise and perform preventative maintenance on emergency generators in buildings as assigned
  • Maintains the Pool, pool chemistry and associated equipment
  • Maintain windows, doors, and door hardware.
  • Perform related work as required.

What We're Looking For (AKA Qualifications)

  • Two years of experience in general maintenance work which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades; or any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities.
  • Valid PA Driver’s license preferred.
