East Stroudsburg University’s English Department is looking for Adjunct Faculty! Located in the beautiful Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania, ESU’s proximity to New York City and Philadelphia provides convenient access to professional markets, careers, and social activities. Just minutes from campus are the country’s largest water parks, scenic Delaware Water Gap Recreation Area, Appalachian Trail, and other opportunities for recreational fun.  

The English Department is seeking to add to the existing Adjunct Faculty pool, which we established in Fall 2023. We need faculty to teach ENGL 101 and ENGL 103 and potentially introductory courses in literature (e.g. ENGL 162) and/or business writing (e.g. ENGL 205) in the future. 

To be successful in this position, the candidate will be an effective teacher and mentor for students and an active member of the department. Applications on-hand will be used to fill vacancies as needed. 

Qualifications:  

A master’s degree in English or related field is required. Applicant must have relevant teaching experience in college composition and college-level writing courses.
Must be able to speak, read, write, and comprehend English; able to create clear verbal and written messages.
Preferred: Experience working with diverse student populations, a terminal degree in English or related field (either a Ph.D. or M.F.A), experience teaching introductory literature courses, and experience in teaching distance education are preferred.
