Granted Graduate OSPR Intern

Job Summary: 

This is a temporary part-time position that provides grant development support within the Office of Sponsored Projects and Research. The assignment is meant to complement formal instruction offered in the student’s graduate degree program and Lehigh University’s GRANTED program to give the student practical, professional experience that can be gained only by performing research activities.

Major duties of the role entail:

Application and mastery of research concepts (35%)

• Assess project inquiries to determine if they meet or are aligned with the University’s strategic direction.
  
• Assist the Research team with the development in the pre-award stage and implementation in the post-award stage of research studies and projects.
  
• Contribute to the design of research protocols, including data collection tools, and analysis plans.
  
• Engage with internal and external stakeholders to identify research needs and priorities
  
• Foster relationships with community organizations, academic institutions and other relevant entities to support collaborative research efforts
  
• Ensure data integrity and adherence to ethical standards throughout the research process.
  

Conducting operational and/or functional audits (30%)

• Collaborate with the OSPR managers to objectively review the grant lifecycle processes and provide feedback that attest to best practices use.
  
• As needed, provide support to stakeholders for training and technical assistance.
  
• Develop executive summaries and policy briefs to highlight key findings and recommendations.
  
• Ensure ethical and informed practices are followed in operational procedures and other functional activities.
  

Data Analysis and Interpretation (20%)

• Analyze quantitative and/or qualitative data using appropriate methodologies and software.
  
• Interpret findings to provide actionable insights and recommendations for policy and program improvements.
  

Reporting and Dissemination (15%)

• Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations that effectively communicate qualitative research findings to diverse audiences, including senior leadership, policymakers, and external partners.
  
• Collaborate with the OSPR managers to publish research findings and operational summaries in the department’s annual report or at relevant forums/meetings.
  

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies: 

• Knowledge of ethnical research protocols.
  
• Knowledge of principles and practices of quantitative and/or qualitative research, including various methodologies and data collection techniques.
  
• Ability to analyze and interpret data, draw meaningful insights and conclusions, and articulate complex information clearly in oral and written forms to diverse audiences.
  
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills and ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and project stakeholders.
  
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely completion of high-quality work.
  
• Strong attention to details.

Additional Information: 

• Hourly Rate $20.00
• The incumbent in the role will be required to work between 15-20 hours weekly for the duration of the assignment.
